Violence Against Women International Poster Exhibition Tours Manitoba Communities
The Manitoba Association of Women’s Shelters, and their sponsors are bringing this thought provoking international exhibition from Ireland to Manitoba. The exhibit was put together by Police Officer Colm Dempsey, after witnessing violence against women and children.
“ This is a very important exhibition because it embraces individuals, agencies, and organizations from 58 countries around the world in each continent. These countries have a combined population total of approx 5.3 billion people.” Colm Dempsey.
“Bringing this exhibit to Manitoba is a breathtaking way to promote Domestic Violence Awareness month. Violence against women and children is a global concern, we realize we are not alone.” Jennifer Hagedorn, MAWS Coordinator
Free to the public, the exhibit of over 400 posters will divide into two portions and journey throughout the province before coming back together for a large exhibition in Winnipeg November 3-6 at the Union Centre 275 Broadway Avenue. The Winnipeg Exhibit will include grand opening ceremonies on November 3rd @ 12:30pm, a local artist silent auction, youth poster tour competition, and evening of entertainment, and many other exciting events throughout the four days.
